Diseases to be considered

Harlequin type ichthyosis - Pretty much anything involving fetuses gone wrong is a WINNER, ding ding ding!! :D

Kuru - Disease you get from cannibalism? AWESOME!

Cordycepts fungus - I know it only attacks arthropods, but something similar to this would be rather fascinating. Besides, check this shit out (probably don't want to be eating while watching this).

Tarantism - *sings "Dancing Queen" from the rooftops*

CIPA - A little more cliche I guess...not that we care 8D;;

Some pyschological ones:
- Depersonalization
- Hypersomnia (possibly used in conjunction with something else like night terrors/nightmares)
- Fetishism (of course)
- Any number of paraphilias
- Rumination (kind of gross, but not gross enough to be a central problem...)

Well, that's all I've got...I went through what I could find of the DSM-IV online and most of it is boring/routine D: How are these? Too cliche/out there? Anyone got some more? *A*;

Uh, btw Connie, are we going to go over the details of The Great Fire of London again? Because I'm still unclear about how Eliot is suspected of causing it. =A=;; And when are you going to reveal to the world your drabbles?? ;;____;; I'm thinking of writing something about Aden and his brother...er and yeah, we need more characterization so we can bribe Tracy into writing something for us. :U

This is kind of interesting...It's funny how some of these are wildly inaccurate. But I like Aden's o3o

Aden - Variant of Adin: Attractive; handsome; pleasure given. Adin was a biblical exile who returned to Israel from Babylon.
Alistair - Variant of Alexander: Defender of men; ruler. Also means avenger.
Eliot - Variant of Elliot: God on high; my God is Jehovah. From a surname derived from a medieval abbreviation of the Greek Elias. Variant of Elijah.
Simeon - That hears or obeys, that is heard
Miquel - Form of Michael 'Who is like God'.
Cyril - Master; lord
Vivien - lively
Basil - Royal; kingly.
Phillip - Fond of horses. One of the biblical 12 apostles.
Thierry - French given name from an older Germanic name meaning 'powerful; ruler of the people.'.
Ian - Gift from God.
Gabriel - God is my strength
Oliver - The olive tree, symbolizing fruitfulness and beauty and dignity, sign of peace.

Unsurprisngly, Woolfardisworthy could not be found. XD

crappy sketches x 2, Eliot & MiquelCollapse )

Rather insufficient, but I'll do some full-body sketches later for the characters I'm assigned. ;A;

[Eliot Ainsworth] - sketch: (old) one | two
An orphan at age 8, was raised in an orphanage, where he first met Alistair. A quiet but surprisingly astute boy, he became good friends with Alistair for the 10 years during which Alistair's father was the orphanage's benefactor. Eventually, however, Alistair would become his greatest rival as a fellow detective. After he left the orphanage at the age of 18, Eliot took up residence with Phillip in his antiques store, which attracts some rather strange characters that afford Eliot an endless supply of singular cases.

Age: 18
Eyes: gold
Hair: black
Height: 5'6"

[Alistair Ravensdale] - sketch: (with Eliot) one
Eliot's rather pompous aristocratic rival and erstwhile friend. After the falling out between them, Alistair, who is a bit of a spendthrift, was cut off by his mother and moved to London to pursue his passion of crime-solving.

Age: 20
Eyes: gray
Hair: blond
Height: 6'

[Woolfardisworthy] - sketch: one
Alistair's faithful butler. Name is pronounced like "Woolseri," "Woolie" for short. Very upbeat and cheerful, helps Alistair on his cases. Because of an affair Alistair's mother had with Woolie's father, Alistair is actually Woolie's half-brother, a fact neither of them knows.

Hair: Red
Eyes: Blue
Height: 5'8"
Age: 14

[Mycroft Ravensdale]
(deceased) Alistair's father, he was once a philanthropist who donated a great deal of money regularly to Eliot's orphanage, and often took his favorite son with him when he toured the product of his generosity. He never loved his wife, who had many affairs without his knowing. Outwardly moral, he hid a secret that might have even caused his untimely demise. When Eliot was 16, Mycroft died while making one of his rounds of the orphanage, in a fire which is widely believed to be started by Eliot. Alistair, who also believed this, never fully forgave Eliot and broke off their friendship.

Eliot's best friend and protector at the orphanage. Gentle and caring, he was like Eliot's big brother during the 10 years they spend together. Though he tried to keep his feelings for Eliot chaste, he secretly was in love with Eliot, but was never able to tell or show him before he died in the same fire that Alistair's father Mycroft died in. However, later on, he makes a mysterious return...

Hair: brown
Eyes: blue
Height: 5'11"
Age: 18 when he died, 2 years older than Eliot

[Aden] - sketch: one
A boy at Eliot's orphanage who made Eliot's life hell whenever he could. The reason behind this is that Eliot bears a strong resemblance to his own brother, with whom he was in love and who betrayed him years ago. Because of this, he both hates and loves Eliot in equal amounts, but can only express emotions in terms of psychotic rage and violence.

Hair: Black
Eyes: Black
Age: 19

[Cyril] - picture: one
A sultry young junkie prostitute who becomes acquaintances with Eliot and sometimes helps him on cases, if somewhat reluctantly. Generally, he is snarky and cynical, even psychotic at times, but privately he has a desperate, twisted love for his pimp, Mr. Wang, so he tries best to please him whenever possible.

Hair: strawberry blond
Eyes: green-blue
Height: 5'7"

[Mr. Wang]
Cold and stoic, he is a pimp who rarely shows any emotion, even when abusing his whores. He fucks all his whores carelessly, even though he knows Cyril is in love with him, and though he likes Cyril somewhat for his cutting wit, he cares little for troublesome maudlin emotions. In addition to trafficking young boys, he deals opium and sometimes is useful to Eliot in obtaining information about shady clients. However, he helps whoever seems to benefit him the most, and so at times gives information to Eliot's enemies.

Hair: black
Eyes: black
Height: 6'3"
Age: 27

Owns an antiques store whose patrons are more often than not sinister and otherworldly. Seemingly carefree and flippant, the dark-skinned Phillip has a typical player attitude, and first met Eliot after Eliot had left the orphanage. He offered Eliot a room in the basement of his store, in exchange for Eliot's assistance in running the store. But is there another reason behind this kindness?

Hair: very light blond, almost white
Eyes: gold
Height: 6'2"
Age: 30-35 (?? We said it was around that age...)

Eliot's bespectacled friend who helps him on cases, bit of a bookworm and rather meek. (I think we DID talk about him more, but I can't seem to find it Dx)

A con man, because con men are awesome.

Hair: Auburn with gold streaks
Eyes: green
Height: 6'1"
Age: 27-30?

A blind fortune-teller who is part of a traveling carnival, plays the flute and makes obscure but accurate predictions that Eliot must decipher.

Hair: dark
Eyes: silver-white

The good Spanish twin, priest. Used to be in the same Catholic orphanage as Eliot and Aden and Ian. He and his brother were taught by a kindly priest in the orphanage who unfortunately was only able to impress ideas of morality into Miquel and not Simeón.

The evil Spanish twin, became member of the Spanish Inquisition. Used to run around with Aden's group and make life hell for Eliot and others.

The random newsboy and sometimes prostitute who will apparently be of use at some time or another.

Aden's little brother who disappeared when Aden was 11.

Hair: black
Eyes: black
Height: around 5'6"
Age: 2 years younger than Aden; 17 present
